Mahakala Protector Puja is practiced the day before the New Moon and includes Bernachen and Chakdrupa practices (2-armed & 6-armed Mahakala).

Mahakala, the great protector of Shangpa Kagyu and Karma Kagyu lineages, is known as “the swift acting lord of pristine awareness,” the wrathful manifestation of Chenrezig, and is practiced widely in all lineages. As practiced at KSK, the puja is about 2 to 3 hours long and includes a break for the traditional tsok feast offering.
