The 9th Gyalwa Karmapa, Wangchuk Dorje (1556-1603) was known as a great teacher, scholar, and mediator, who founded many monasteries (including Rumtek in Sikkim) and wrote a number of classic texts which are still taught today.

Fred will be teaching on “The 12 Conditions for Spiritual Development According to the Mahamudra View” from the 9th Karmapa’s text, Eliminating the Darkness of Ignorance.

A long-time student of Khentin Tai Situ Rinpoche, Fred has taught at Kagyu Centers in the U.S. for 30 years.  He is President of Kagyu Shenpen Kunchab Board of Directors, and a Theoretical Physicist at Santa Fe Institute and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
