Venerable Lama Mingma Sherpa is currently the Resident Lama at KTL in Honolulu and Regional Director for Shangpa Kagyu Centers in Honolulu, Santa Fe, Truth or Consequences, NM, and Palden Shangpa, Vermont.
Born in Karfok, Ilam, Nepal in 1978, Lama Mingma became a Buddhist monk at the age of eight and later completed three-year retreat at Sonada Monastery under the direction of the current HE Kalu Rinpoche. In 2010, His Eminence asked Lama Mingma to come to Santa Fe to assist Ven. Lama Dorje and to assume responsibilities for the continuation of Dharma studies and expanding sadhana practices at KSK.
In 2022, Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche appointed Lama Mingma Resident Lama of Kagyu Thegchen Ling in Honolulu. He continues to visit Santa Fe regularly where he supervises special celebrations and events and assists us with our practices. Lama Mingma remains closely connected with monasteries in Sonada and Siliguri, India, and visits them regularly. KSK is fortunate to have had Lama Mingma as resident Lama for twelve years and to continue our connection with him on a regular basis.
