We are very pleased to offer this teaching with Fred Cooper, KSK President and long time practitioner and teacher of Vajrayana Buddhism.

Noble Tara is a Buddha who in earlier times promised to always be born in the pure form of a female body in order to help living beings reach enlightenment. There are many outer and inner impediments that practitioners encounter, so Arya Tara manifests in order to eliminate hindrances and obstacles one runs in to while on the path to liberation from suffering. White Tara is invoked for long life, health, and to resist untimely death.

This teaching and reading transmission with Dr. Fred Cooper will cover the philosophical and practical aspects of Vajrayana visualization and mantra recitation (Development and Completion Stage practice) in the context of the practice of White Tara. The practice is very appropriate for beginners as well as experts.  To register call (505) 982-4763. Suggested Donation: $25.

September 8-9 – 8 am – 5 pm
Green Tara Sand Mandala with Ven. Lama Chopal

Sand mandalas are an ancient, sacred form of Tibetan Buddhist art.  The word mandala itself is a Sanskrit word meaning “circle” and at its deeper levels a mandala represents the wholeness and harmony at the heart of the Tibetan Buddhist universe.
Lama Chopal returns to create a participatory sand mandala in the gonpa.  Those who have worked with Lama Chopal will remember his kindness and generosity as he gently guides us in tool use and arranging the colored sands to create the intricate patterns of the Mandalas.
